January 18th storm day full of warmth and art

It was a wet and wooly afternoon at Ros Creek on Sunday, January 18 but that didn't stop two diverse groups from coming out. First were the families who came out for Family Arts Sunday, a lovely event called the Explorers, well organised by Heather Cosidetto, community and outreach director. With a great and varied group of activities, we had many people who focused only on one or two activities and then looked at the new work in the galleries by Shirley Moorhouse and Sojo Truth. I love having everyone from adults to teens to babes in arms at these events celebrating the creative spirit and enjoying new work created by community artists. I also love our volunteers, awesome teens and adults who come back again and again to help out - this time we had Stefan Morales, Lyndsay, Adrian, Caitlin, and our artists in residence Mackenzie and Natalie and of course our own British bear, Roxy.

The second round was a group of community members who came up for a trial run of an art film night - and by art film I mean artistic films - short animations, avant garde pieces, etc. all curated by Stefan Morales and Heather C. Our guests braved the winter storm to enjoy our pilot project and there was popcorn and cupcakes for all! I'll let you know when the next one will be coming up and this time it won't be so secret...
